Changing Your Password

Your Wicked Plum account will come with a lovely, highly secure password assigned to it. Naturally, we think it’s a good idea to change it right away…and, as one of our clients has noted, “the random password while a good ‘brain exerciser’ is driving me nuts.”*

So! Changing your password. First off, you click on ‘Users’ in the lefthand sidebar.

This will take you to your profile page, which allows you to do a bunch of things, one of which is (usefully for this tutorial) changing your password.

Scroll down a bit, past the ‘Name’ and ‘Contact Info’ sections, to ‘About the user’. There are a pair of boxes there to type your new password into.

I’m not going to go into how to choose a strong password here—there are plenty of places on the net you can learn about that—but I do want to emphasize that it is ABSOLUTELY VITAL to pick a good one. If you had a bricks-and-mortar store (and I know some of you do) you’d want a good, solid lock on the door—it’s the same for your web site.

Fortunately the Wicked Plum interface itself will tell you whether your password is strong enough:

Just make sure you can remember what you typed! And of course what you type into both boxes must match.

Scroll all the way down to the bottom of the page, click on ‘Update Profile’, and poof! You now have a password that’s all yours.
