How to Accept Gift Certificates

Gift certificates are great for the customer who can’t make up their minds. You set them up (much like everything else involving the shopping cart) in Mal’s E-commerce (https://www.mals-e.com/). Log into Mal’s and click on ‘Gift Vouchers’.

Once you’ve gotten to the Gift Voucher page, make sure that you check the Voucher Entry Box on the right side of the page. This will allow your customers to enter their gift voucher code.

When someone buys a gift certificate, enter their information under ‘Issue a gift voucher manually’.

This will not send them a notification! You’ll have to do that yourself, by whatever means you prefer — an email or a postcard are popular.

One thing to consider when setting up gift vouchers is whether or not you want customers to be able to buy less than the gift certificate is worth. Most merchants only allow you to use a gift certificate for an order that’s more than the gift certificate is for. Once you’ve made your decision you can change it in the ‘Redeem vouchers’ box to the right.

Keep track of your issued gift certificates by clicking on ‘Active list’ in the left sidebar.

This will list all of your active gift certificates; you can examine each individually by clicking on the ID.

Once you’ve clicked on the ID you can use this dialog to edit or delete a gift certificate.
