How to Retrieve Credit Card Information (for Propay Users)

So you’ve just gotten the email you’ve been waiting for — the one that tells you someone’s bought something through your brand-new Wicked Plum site. Congratulations! Now what do you do?

If they’ve paid through PayPal, you should have gotten a separate email notifying you that that payment has been received, and all is good. If they’ve paid with a credit card, though, you’re not quite done; you still need to retrieve the card information so you can process it.

Wicked Plum uses Mal’s Ecommerce to run our shopping carts, and that’s where you’ll go to retrieve your card details.

Go and log into you Mal’s account (https://www.mals-e.com/).

Once you’ve done that, you’ll be at the Shopping Card Admin screen. Click on ‘View Card Details’.

Figure 2: View Card Details

Mal’s requires that you use a separate password to access the card details for an order. This makes it that much harder for someone else to crack in and find your customers’ credit card information and is well worth the additional work to remember two different passwords. So enter your second password now.

You’ll need to select a ‘Shopper ID’ as well. This will be listed in that notification email.

Depending on how you’re processing your cards, you may want Mal’s to format this card number. This just determines whether or not it’ll put the spaces between each group of four digits. The way I process cards, it’s easier if they’re not formatted, so I’ll leave that box unchecked.

Click ‘Submit’. This will take you to all the information you need to charge some poor sap’s card a million dollars*.

…or at least to charge them for what they just ordered.

Take the information, plug it into your credit card processing system of choice, and voila! Moneys.

* no, that’s not a real card number. It’s an official Mastercard test number. Trying to charge a million dollars to it will just get you laughed at. Wicked Plum shall not be held liable for damages resulting in your inability to resist going MUAHAHAHAHA and going mad with someone else’s credit card number.
