Selling Digital Products
Digital downloads are the sales wave of the future. I sort of can’t believe I said that, but selling digital copies of art, music, and books is getting a lot more popular, and here’s how you do it in Wicked Plum.
The first thing you do is upload your product (let’s say it’s a music file, song.mp3) to somewhere it’ll be available online. If it’s less than 8 megs you can upload it into your Wicked Plum shop. In the left sidebar, click on ‘Media’ to open the accordion, and then click ‘Add New’.
Upload your file with the Wicked Plum uploader.
Once it’s finished uploading, it’ll be listed in the Media Library; hover over the file to make the available commands appear, and click on ‘Edit’.
Among other things this page shows the URL of the file you just uploaded. Copy it somewhere safe; you’ll need it later.
If it’s bigger than 8 megs contact us, and we’ll help you out with finding a place to host your file. Either way, make sure that you know the URL to access it.
Once you’ve done that, enter the new item as you normally would.
Now it’s over to Mal’s E-Commerce (https://www.mals-e.com/).
Click on ‘Cart Setup’:
Then on ‘Advanced settings’ in the sidebar:
And on ‘Products for Download’.
Enter the code, price, and URL of the product exactly as they are in Wicked Plum. (The ‘code’ in Mal’s must match the item title in Wicked Plum).
Click on ‘Add’ and you’re ready to go!
