How to Add a New Item
Okay, so you’ve got a brand-new Wicked Plum shop, and it’s time to sell something. Time to enter some items! (Or just skip to the ravening hordes.)
Log into your Wicked Plum shop (you should have gotten a link in your “Welcome” email) and look for ‘Items’ in the left sidebar. Click to open the accordion if necessary, then click ‘New’.
Here’s where you enter new items! This part is just like writing a blog post — title in the box at the top, description in the big box below it — and you’ll have all the editing tools you’re used to, like ‘bold’ and ‘italicize’ and ‘center’.
Once you’ve put in your title and description, this is where things get specialized. You’ll want to choose shop categories for your item — that’s in the right sidebar.
Choose one or several categories, whichever fit the item you’re working on; you can also add new categories here if this is a new product line for you.
Time to add some pictures! Under ‘Primary Image Upload’, click on ‘Choose File’, and it’ll upload automatically. Poof!
If you decide you want something else there instead, click on ‘Replace File’.
Your item price and quantity go right below the Primary Image space. Just put the number — you don’t need a dollar sign.
Below that is space for additional images — these get added the same way as your primary image, and you can add as many as you like.
You’ll want to upload a Featured Image as well — this will be the thumbnail that represents this item on category pages and the like. Click on ‘Set featured image’ in the right sidebar…
…and use the dialog that pops up to upload the image you want.
You’ll be able to add a title, alternate text, and description here. Once you’ve got it where you want it, click ‘Use as featured image’, then click the little X at the upper right to close the dialog.
And poof! You’re done. Click ‘Publish’ and it’ll be ready for the ravening hordes to buy!
